Netanyahu: Zionism succeeded because of Christian support

By Ryan Jones.. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday stated that Zionism and the rebirth of the Jewish state would not have succeeded without the backing and support of Christian Zionism.

Netanyahu was speaking at a rededication ceremony for the landmark windmill situated at the entrance to Mishkenot Sha’ananim, the first neighborhood built outside Jerusalem’s Old City walls.

Built in 1858 by Jewish philanthropist Moses Montefiore, the windmill quickly became a recognized symbol of Jerusalem. But over the years, it fell into disrepair.

The windmill’s restoration was made possible by the cooperation of various government bodies and private charities, but the bulk of the funding has come from the Dutch organization Christians for Israel.

Last month, Dutch experts oversaw the installation of a new dome and blades on the iconic structure, and managed to return the windmill to working order.

Acknowledging the role played by Christians for Israel in this particular project, and the involvement in general of Christian Zionists in Israel’s restoration, Netanyahu said:

“I don’t believe that the Jewish State and Modern Zionism would have been possible without Christian Zionism. I think that the many Christian supporters of the rebirth of the Jewish State and the ingathering of the Jewish people in the 19th century made possible the rise of…modern Jewish Zionism. We always had the deeply ingrained desire to come back to our land and rebuild it. …That was made possible in the 19th century, by the resurgence of Christian Zionism… It’s well represented here today by our Dutch friends.”

Flashback: The Homeland Security Program Made for Jewish Non-Profits

While nothing in its policy guidelines say it’s supposed to be this way, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has distributed the vast majority of its nonprofit security grants to Jewish organizations.

During one three-year period (2007-2010), Jewish groups received 73% of DHS’ Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) awards. This share grew larger in 2011 (80%) and still larger in 2012 (97%).

In total dollars, Jewish institutions will take in $9.7 million in NSGP grants this year out of $10 million available.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano explained the results of the program’s grant awards this way: “Unfortunately there are risks attendant on the Jewish community that are not attendant on all other communities.”

A Democratic Party caucus chairman who has speculated about Jewish involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attacks has launched a new political action committee dedicated to supporting “anti-Zionist” Muslim candidates who believe “the ‘war on terror’ is a hoax and that the official story of 9/11 is not true,” according to the group’s website.

MD Rabbi Alam is an Obama campaign ally and Missouri-based Democratic activist who came under fire in July after he told the Free Beacon that “not a single Jew” was killed during the 9/11 attacks. (Alam is not a rabbi.)

A veteran Democrat, Alam lost a bid last week to become his party’s nominee for Missouri’s next secretary of state. However, his conspiratorial views about 9/11 and the Jewish people continue to garner the most attention.

Though Alam apologized for his provocative comments, the mission statement of his newly created political action committee suggests the Democratic candidate has not fully renounced his most inflammatory opinions—even as Alam argues that he has done so.

Called the American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), the group aims to get “Muslims elected to office” and become more active in the American political system. Alam is listed at the website’s owner.

The ideal AMPAC candidate would be “pro-peace, anti-Zionist, and opposed to usury,” the website explains in a question-and-answer section that Alam also blasted to his supporters via email.

An FAQ posted on the organization’s website asserts AMPAC will champion “the views and values of Muslims.”

These values include: The “widespread agreement in the community … that the ‘war on terror’ is a hoax and that the official story of 9/11 is not true.”

American Muslims, the mission statement maintains, “have suffered extreme discrimination due to the phony ‘war on terror,’” which is why “this issue deserves to be at the top of Muslims’ list of political priorities.”

Are such views too “radical” for the public discourse, the FAQ wonders?

The answer is no: “The history of the Jewish-Zionist lobby AIPAC [the nonpartisan American Israel Public Affairs Committee] shows that it is more effective to be ‘radical’ and express one’s views strongly and honestly, than to be fearful and timid.”

AMPAC will be bipartisan, the website states, despite the fact that “Alam is a well-known Democrat.”

“In the Republican Party, Mitt Romney is a strong supporter of Zionism and the ‘war on terror’ while [Texas Republican] Ron Paul is not, so we would be inclined to support Paul over Romney,” the site explains. “We believe Muslims should support Ron Paul and other like-minded Republicans.”

Asked about AMPAC’s controversial standpoints, Alam told the Free Beacon that he does not support any of the opinions described above.

“I don’t even know what you’re talking about,” Alam stated when a reporter repeated his organization’s more polemical talking points.

“I was given those things in an email and copy and pasted it in an email and sent it out,” Alam maintained, describing the email that bears his name. “I did not even read it.”

“It there’s a question, we’ll clean it up,” he added, calling the FAQ “miswritten or a misunderstanding.”

Asked if he considers himself “anti-Zionist,” Alam responded, “No, I do not.”

However, he could not fully explain why AMPAC would support candidates who explicitly hold such views.

Alam went on to cite a recent essay he penned on minority relations as proof of his open-minded politics.

To help spread AMPAC’s message, Alam will host a weekly conference call for the next 60 months with Kevin Barrett, a Bay Area talk show host at conspiracy-minded No Lies Radio, which subscribes to Alam’s beliefs that 9/11 may have been an inside job.

The Anti-Defamation League has designated Barrett one of the most prominent promoters of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories relating to 9/11.

Among other topics, Barrett has investigated whether “US government big lies [reached] a critical mass in the 1960s with JFK, RFK, MLK, and a fake moon landing? Is the New World Order getting ready to kill us off?”

During their Friday conference calls—which began August 10—Barrett and Alam examine ways to increase Muslim political engagement, according to an email sent by Alam to his supporters and posted on the website of “Muslims for 9/11 Truth.”

Alam has long liaised with Democratic Party and President Obama, and has vowed to run as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

He served as chairman of the National Democratic Party Asian American Caucus (NDPAAC)—a Democratic National Committee-sponsored organization that liaises with Asian minorities. He also worked as a “satellite campaign manager” in 2008 for then-candidate Barack Obama. Alam has since been invited to the White House.

Alam was “soundly” defeated last week in his bid to become Missouri’s secretary of state, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The failed politician’s efforts to reveal the “truth” about 9/11 are well documented.

He has speculated about Jewish involvement in the September 11th terrorist attacks, and on one Internet posting wondered why “9/11 was a official holidy [sic] for all jewish [sic] people [who] worked in the” World Trade Center.

“I have 100 percent doubts. It doesn’t add up,” Alam told the Free Beacon in July. “My bottom line is the plane is not solely responsible for destroying the whole building.”

Democrats in D.C. have denounced Alam’s views and his association with the DNC.

“That the DNC would in any way affiliate itself with a 9/11 Truther who spews such anti-Semitic lunacy, and defends and repeats such bile when confronted, is beyond deeply troubling, it’s simply wrong,” Josh Block, a Democratic strategist and former spokesman for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, said in July.

For his part, Alam says that he just wants to educate the Muslim community.

The three were allegedly attacked by youths shouting "Death to the Arabs" at them, as well as other racial slurs. One of them fell on the floor, and his attackers continued to beat him until he lost consciousness. They subsequently fled from the scene.

Dozens of Jewish youths attacked three young Palestinians in Jerusalem's Zion Square early on Friday morning, in what one witness described as "a lynch" on Facebook.

Within a short period of time rescue volunteers and Magen David Adom rescue services arrived on the scene, and found the victim with no pulse and not breathing. After a lengthy resuscitation attempt, he was transferred to hospital.

Writing on her Facebook page, one eye witness decribed the attack as a lynch: "Its late at night, and I can't sleep. My eyes are full of tears for a good few hours now and my stomach is turning inside out with the question of the loss of humanity, the image of God in mankind, a loss that I am not willing to accept."

"But today I saw a lynch with my own eyes, in Zion Square, the center of the city of Jerusalem ….. and shouts of 'A Jew is a soul and Arab is a son of a –,' were shouted loudly and dozens (!!) of youths ran and gathered and started to really beat to death three Arab youths who were walking quietly in the Ben Yehuda street," the witness wrote.

"When one of the Palestinian youths fell to the floor, the youths continued to hit him in the head, he lost consciousness, his eyes rolled, his angled head twitched, and then those who were kicking him fled and the rest gathered in a circle around, with some still shouting with hate in their eyes."

"When two volunteers [from local charities] went into the circle, they tried to perform CPR the mass of youths standing around started to say resentfully that we are resuscitating an Arab, and when they passed near us and saw that the rest of the volunteers were shocked, they asked why we were so in shock, he is an Arab.

Romney-esque reflections

I am struck dumb by the precision and astuteness of Mitt Romney’s observation about the regressive nature of Palestinian culture. Of course, he addressed the subject only tangentially in explaining the obvious: that the difference between the Israeli and Palestinian economies is the result of cultural differences. His formula applies to a wider range of phenomena.

When I first read it, I struggled with the deeper anti-Semitic nuance of the statement. Attributing economic success to Jews on the basis of ingrained cultural traits could well bring ruination on the head of someone like Barack Obama, known for his lack of purity when it comes to race. After all, the man’s mere looks, not to mention his full name, evoke echoes of deep-seated racial intolerance and gut-level sentiments to do with doctrinaire narrow religious beliefs. And now his supporters have come up with a genealogical rumor linking him to the first slave in the USA so as to harp on everyone’s heartstrings and gain their sympathy. None of that is going to wipe away his Islamic and Arab roots, believe me.

Not Romney! To him a spade is a f…ing spade. Palestinians are cultural retards, period. Why else would they refuse the enlightening influence of the only democracy in the Middle East and resist the benign embrace of the most moral army in the world? They insist on keeping their cave dwellings in the South Hebron Hills when right next to them Israelis are building spacious villas and modern high rises. What greater evidence of cultural deprivation do we need?

Or take those Palestinian Bedouins in the Negev: For years the Israelis have afforded them the luxury of enlisting in their armed forces. Yet, despite years of patient and concerted efforts at their modernization through the role models of their Jewish commanders, they still insist on returning to their primitive place of residence in the desert. In the village of El‘araqeeb for example, Israel has extended to them the services of its most efficient demolition crews and equipment on credit for a total of over three-dozen times to no avail. They still go back and rebuild their hovels on the same grounds claiming that their fathers and mothers and their ancestors before them are buried there. It is enough to make one wonder who those barbarians think their dead are! Kabbalistic mystics or Hasidic holy men or what? Whose land is this anyway? Not only no culture but also no shame! No civilized historical perspective whatsoever!

And if that were not enough, take the recent news article by Zafrir Rinat entitled “Ecological Occupation” in Haaretz for example (which I fail to locate for you online!) It opens with the statement that “In the last two years, Jewish settlers in the West Bank have made a concerted PR effort to showcase their commitment to the environment.” So, how do the Palestinians in their ignorance react when such magnanimous neighbors as the NGO Green Now and the municipality of Ariel beseech them to “separate the environment from politics” and invite them to lay their belligerence aside and attend a conference entitled “Environment Without Borders?” As expected, they react by “preferring to hurt their citizens,” as our Minister of Environmental Protection points out. They simply do not participate. Had they attended they would have learned a simple fact or two such as the main conclusion presented at the conference “that Israeli settlement activity … has less of an environmental impact on the Palestinian Authority than the PA has on the environment in general and on Israeli settlements in particular.”

Believe me, it is impossible to help people lacking in culture. Here I am speaking of the same deficient culture that leads to economic poverty that Romney pointed out. Some of us, successful Israelis residing in Israel proper, having put up with the sullying of our Samaria and Judea by the continued presence of so many Palestinians in it, when we try and help some of them escape economic deprivation by hiring them “to dispose of solid or construction waste on public lands,” we get blamed for it even when we go so far as to help them smuggle it across the Green Line. Or on occasion when “The cost of the race to put facts on the ground by Israeli settlement activity was paid by nature,” such as in the prominent case of Ofra where “Currently, the state is trying to authorize a wastewater treatment facility built recently without permits on private Palestinian land,” we wind up having to put up with all the Palestinian whining.

To look at it with Romney’s clear-eyed vision, it is all there in black and white: What do you expect from a culturally deprived invented people in the first place? Why should environmentally aware people like us expect cooperation from the Palestinians? First, you need a culture that values cleanliness. Not the Palestinians, Romney knows.

Israel Should Forget the Idea of a Jewish State

Egyptian Presidential Candidate, Judge Hisham Al-Bastawisi, 59, said during a meeting with the Egyptian community in Austria held at the Modul hotel in Vienna that Israel must become a democratic, civil and civilized state. According to him, “everyone born in Israel has the right to enjoy the same rights, and Israel should forget the idea of a religious jewish state”.

He added: “What is required from the international community, the western countries, which do not allow the establishment of a religious state in their countries, is to neither accept nor approve the racist idea of a religious jewish state in Israel, which threatens the whole region”.


He said: “Let’s agree that all states must be laicistic. Why should then we exclude Israel from this? The exclusion of Israel from precepts which all other countries accept, to give her the “right” to be a racist and religious state, is unacceptable”. Judge Al-Bastawisi visited Austria in order to communicate with the Egyptian community, to discuss with them his candidacy platform and to listen to their views and answer their questions.

The meeting was attended by representatives of several diplomatic missions in Vienna, as well as by hundreds of Egyptians and members of other Arab communities, who al received and welcomed him warmly. The dialogue was moderated by Mr. Mustafa Abbas, president of the Association of Arab Culture in Vienna. (Click on the picture to make it bigger).

Judge Al-Bastawisi is a well known leader of the protest by Egypt’s judges against the Mubarak regime’s misuse of the judiciary. He was a fighter against corruption under the former regime. He suffered lots due the former regimes harassment, which tried several times to involve him in immoral issues and implanted spying equipment in his house.

Mr. Hesham Mohamed Othman Al-Bastawisi, with 30 years of working in the field of law, is an Egyptian judge and Vice-President of the Court of Cassation. He received a Bachelor of Laws in 1976 from Cairo University. He is married to Ms. Olfat Salah al-Sahli and has three sons, Mohammed, a graduate of Engineering, Ahmed, a student of law in France in his third year, and Mustafa, who also studies law in France, in his first year.

At the beginning of his speech, judge Al-Bastawisi said that Egypt had lost justice during the regime of former President Hosni Mubarak. This makes them needy for justice in all fields. Al-Bastawisi sees that justice is the basis of governance and that Egyptians miss freedom and democracy and were not satisfied with the level of hypocrisy and corruption of the former dictatorial regime. He also pointed out that his platform is based on improving conditions for the farmers and the agricultural sector, and solving the problem of the Nile water, indicating that 51% of Egypt’s water is wasted in the Mediterranean.

The audience at Hotel Modul included a hot dialogue with Judge Al-Bastawisi. Many of the attendees expressed their resentment for the policies of the Egyptian military council which rules Egypt now. With its unclear and blurry policy, the council does not respond to the inquiries of the Egyptian revolutionists. The Egyptian questions about the elections and the long due day for ending the rule of the military receive no answers, and the council is very slow in achieving the demands of the Egyptian revolution.

I asked the judge about his program on foreign relations and international law and his position on the crimes against humanity committed and abetted by the former Egyptian regime, especially the blockade on the Gaza Strip and starving the Palestinians to appease Israel and to comply to the American pressure, which links continued financial support to Egypt to the extent of Egypt’s commitment to achieving the demands of Israel, which are all against local and international laws, specifically the Israeli demands with regard to the Palestinian cause. I asked how he would deal with this issue if he elected as a president of Egypt.

Judge Al-Bastawisi said that the Egyptian regime committed crimes against humanity in Gaza, which are punishable under international laws and against international treaties, and acknowledged that what the former regime did was a crime in the field of international law, stating that there are many treaties saying that states must not close the borders for humanitarian assistance to their neighboring countries.

He said: “in my opinion and in the opinion of the candidacy platform, dealing with the Palestinian issue will be on the grounds that the Palestine issue is not an issue of Palestinians only, but is an issue of the whole Middle East and we can only deal with this issue through cooperation with the other Arab countries”. He added: “in order to know how to deal with the Palestine issue, we must first know what are our priorities, our interests and our security? We should know from where to start and where to end”.

He said: “Let’s talk about land for peace. My question is, which party will give the land? Which party will lead the peace?” He continued: “thinking about the answer to this question, I find that we are the part who gave the land, and gave the peace and everything else, and that Israel gave us nothing in return while international law talks about the return of Israel to the 1967 borders”. He added: “In order that I recognize Israel, I think that Israel should recognize me and return to the borders of 1967 which they occupied during the war”.

The judge asked: “If I am only the part who will give Israel the land, normalization of relations, peace and security … etc., then what Israel will give me?” He said: “We are not assaulting Israel, but Israel is continuing to assault us. We are the party that really is in need for security. So which is the security that Israel wants from us?”

He said that we should think in the same way of Israel, and in order to solve our problem with Israel, we must clarify that our problem with Israel is a problem of identity and struggle for civilization and culture: Our identity, culture and civilization are threatened by Israel.

He gave an example to illustrate his opinion. He said: “When the state of France realized the increase in the phenomenon of wearing the “Islamic Hijab” on its territory, they initiated laws that prohibit it in order to preserve its identity, civilization and culture. In my view France was within its rights with all the adopted resolutions on this issue, and this example should apply to Israel, which threatens not only the identity and security of Palestine, but of the whole Middle East”.
