The EU is not a “Person”: Granting the Nobel Prize to the European Union is in Violation of Alfred Nobel’s Will

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize was granted to the European Union (EU) for its relentless contribution to “the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.”

While the EU’s contribution to peace is debatable, the key issue is whether a union of nation states, which constitutes a political, economic, monetary and fiscal entity is an “eligible candidate” for the Peace Prize, in accordance with the mandate of the Norwegian Committee.

The Olympic Games are “granted” to countries. But the Nobel Peace Prize cannot under any stretch of the imagination be granted to a nation-state, let alone a union of nation states.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has a responsibility to ascertain “the eligibility of candidates” in accordance with the Will of Alfred Bernhard Nobel (Paris, 27 November, 1895).

“The whole of my remaining realizable estate shall be dealt with in the following way: the capital, invested in safe securities by my executors, shall constitute a fund, the interest on which shall be annually distributed in the form of prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit to mankind...

The said interest shall be divided into five equal parts, which shall be apportioned as follows: one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery or invention within the field of physics; one part to the person who shall have made the most important chemical discovery or improvement; one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery within the domain of physiology or medicine; one part to the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction; and one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses. ...

It is my express wish that in awarding the prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, but that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be a Scandinavian or not.

The conditions set out in Alfred Nobel’s Will have been twisted upside down.

Nobel’s Will is crystal clear. The five prizes are to be granted to “persons”. (See complete list of laureates)

Since its inception, however, several of the prizes have been granted to both “persons” and organizations/institutions to which they are affiliated as in the case of Henry Dunand (Red Cross) or Mohamed ElBaradei, UN International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA). In other cases, the prize was granted as to “organizations” consisting of a collective of persons (e.g. UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

The granting of the Nobel Prize to the European Union, which is a political entity, a union of nation states, is visibly in blatant violation of Alfred Nobel’s Will.

Theater of the Absurd

The European Union cannot under any stretch of the imagination be categorized as a “person”, “a group of persons” or even an “organization”. Moreover, implied in Nobel’s Will is that the candidates must be citizens without regard to nationality:

“It is my express wish that in awarding the prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, but that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be a Scandinavian or not.(Alfred Nobel’s Will, Paris, 1895)

The European Union is a union of nation states composed of citizens.

The EU cannot be a citizen of itself, nor does the EU have a nationality.

Citizens of the EU are “eligible candidates” but the EU cannot be “an eligible candidate”.

Moreover, it stands to reason that “eligible candidates” for the Peace prize who are “persons” cannot reasonably be evaluated, compared or ranked by the Norwegian selection committee in relation to the European Union, which is a “non-person”, namely a union of countries.

This an important consideration: How does the candidacy of the EU “compare” to “other” distinguished 2012 nominees who are actual “persons”? “Oranges versus apples?

According to the procedure, a short list of nominees “is reviewed by permanent advisers and advisers specially recruited for their knowledge of specific candidates.” And based on this review, the Peace Laureate is chosen, through a majority vote of the five persons Norwegian Committee.

The prize consists of “a medal, a personal diploma, and a cash award.” Theater of the absurd: A “personal diploma” to the European Union and “a cash award”, for what, to whom? To finance the EU’s budget deficit, its bank bailout schemes?

The decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee is diabolical and illegal, in blatant violation of its mandate.

I, the undersigned, Alfred Bernhard Nobel, do hereby, after mature deliberation, declare the following to be my last Will and Testament with respect to such property as may be left by me at the time of my death:

To my nephews, Hjalmar and Ludvig Nobel, the sons of my brother Robert Nobel, I bequeath the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Crowns each;

To my nephew Emanuel Nobel, the sum of Three Hundred Thousand, and to my niece Mina Nobel, One Hundred Thousand Crowns;

Norway killer holding back info: Prosecutor

A Norwegian prosecutor said on Thursday he is concerned that the confessed perpetrator of last month's attacks that killed 77 people is declining to give information that could determine if he had accomplices.

Anders Behring Breivik has confessed to the July 22 shooting massacre at a youth camp conducted by the governing party, in which 69 people died, and the car bombing hours earlier in Oslo's government quarter that killed eight.

Breivik, in a manifesto issued shortly before the attacks, denounced Norway's left-leaning government and its tolerance of Muslim immigration. In the manifesto, he claimed contact with extremists elsewhere.

Anders Behring Breivik has confessed to the July 22 shooting massacre in which 69 people died.

"We still think he was alone, but we cannot conclude about that. He holds back some information, and that worries us," prosecutor Christian Hatlo told The Associated Press. Hatlo also said Breivik has been questioned about his travels to 10 other countries and about equipment bought for the attacks. He declined to elaborate on either thread of inquiry.

The 32-year-old Breivik appears to have planned the attacks meticulously, but failed to anticipate one consequence that he would be held in isolation after his arrest.

"He told us he had not thought of that, and he should have," Hatlo said.

Earlier on Thursday, former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland, who left the Utoya Island youth camp just hours before the massacre, said the day will be remembered as one of the country's darkest.

Norway to fly last Libya mission

Norway will fly its last combat mission in Libya on Saturday, two days before the official end of its role in the Nato-led air war, an alliance official told AFP.

Norway, one of eight Nato members that have conducted air strikes in the four-month-old operation, was the first to set an end-date for its participation when it decided last month to withdraw on August 01.

"The last day Norwegian aircraft will fly on July 30," the Nato official said.

"We appreciate and respect the decisions of all contributing nations to provide what they can to the mission," the official said. "Norway has done a great deal but, at the end of the day, the mission continues."

Norway originally deployed six F-16 fighters to the mission before reducing it to four last month. The government explained that its small air force could not sustain a large air contribution for a long period of time.

Only eight of Nato's 28 member states have flown bombing missions since the alliance took command of the operation on March 31: Norway, Britain, France, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Italy and the United States.

London has increased its contribution by adding four Tornado jets, effectively making up for the loss of the Norwegian planes.

Nato officials say Norway's departure will not affect the tempo of air operations, which have averaged more than 100 sorties per day including around 50 missions aimed at hitting targets.

The Scandinavian country, beset by a bombing and shooting spree committed by a confessed far-right extremist, will continue its involvement in the operation with 10 officers posted at the Libya air command centre based in Italy.

Norway PM Vows to Fight Terror with Democracy

Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said it's still possible to have an open society with security without being naïve, despite last week's terror attacks. 

"I think what we have seen is that there is going to be one Norway before and one Norway after July 22," the prime minister said during a news conference Wednesday. 

"But I hope and also believe that the Norway we will see after will be more open, a more tolerant society than what we had before," he said. 

Stoltenberg defended freedom of thought, even if includes extremist views such as those held by the 32-year-old Norwegian who confessed to the Oslo bombing and following massacre at a Labor Party youth camp hours later. At least 76 people were killed in the twin attacks. 

"We have to be very clear to distinguish between extreme views, opinions - that's completely legal, legitimate to have," he said. "What is not legitimate is to try to implement those extreme views by using violence." 

Meanwhile, Denmark said Wednesday a 43-year-old Danish woman, Hanne Balch Fjalestad, had died in the attacks, marking the first confirmed foreign casualty. 

Fjalestad was working as a first aid medic at Utoya island. She leaves behind four children, including a 20-year-old daughter, Anna, who survived the island shooting. 

Anders Behring Breivik has confessed to the attacks, claiming he was trying to save the Western world from Muslim colonization.

Democracy Now! Ignores Zionism When Discussing Norway Shooter's Motive

In a feature story presented by Democracy Now! Amy Goodman and her guests offer extensive analysis of the political make-up and motive for Norway shooting suspect Anders Behring Breivik, but fail to point out one crucial, relevant component:  Zionism. 

This is especially awkward when Amy Goodman asks her guest, Kari Partapuali, of the Norwegian Centre Against Racism, "Could you talk more about the issue of Neo-Nazism and how this fits in?"  As Partapuali correctly denies that the massacre was an act of Neo-Nazism, she then becomes vague, avoiding altogether Breivik's stated contempt for what he describes as "Liberal Jews".  Partapuali similarly does not address Breivik’s enthusiastic support of Zionist Jews and their desire to deport Muslims from Israel.  Obviously, Nazism is recognized for its hatred and contempt of all Jews.  Kari Parapuali was introduced by Amy Goodman as someone who has been studying Breivik, which was confirmed as she recalled detailed online references and influences behind Breivik's act. Why then, would Parapauli be so vague with the simplified description of Breivik as "shaped by the political violence of the right wing"?  She is clearly avoiding the subject of Israel and Zionism.  

Amy then asks Partapuali about "Jihad-watch", a website quoted 64 times in Breivik's manifesto.  While it's encouraging to know that Amy Goodman is aware of the manifesto and may have perused it herself, she should also be aware that Israel is mentioned in that same document 364 times.  References to the word "Jew" are mentioned 559 times and one key aspect differentiating Breivik's type of Nationalism from Nazism is found in the following quote from his Manifesto (emphasis and separation is added to key sentence within the paragraph):

"Were the majority of the German and European Jews disloyal? Yes, at least the so called liberal Jews, similar to the liberal Jews today that opposes nationalism/Zionism and supports multiculturalism. Jews that support multiculturalism today are as much of a threat to Israel and Zionism (Israeli nationalism) as they are to us."


"So let us fight together with Israel, with our Zionist brothers against all anti-Zionists, against all cultural Marxists/multiculturalists."  


"Conservative Jews were loyal to Europe and should have been rewarded. Instead, he [Hitler] just targeted them all.  So, are the current Jews in Europe and US disloyal?  The multiculturalist (nation-wrecking) Jews ARE while the conservative Jews ARE NOT.  Aprox. 75% of European/US Jews support multiculturalism while aprox. 50% of Israeli Jews does the same. This shows very clearly that we must embrace the remaining loyal Jews as brothers rather than repeating the mistake of the NSDAP. Whenever I discuss the Middle East issue with a national socialist he presents the anti-Israeli and pro-Palestine argument. He always seem unaware of the fact that his propaganda is hurting Israeli nationalists (who want to deport the Muslims from Israel) and that he is in fact helping the Israeli cultural Marxists/multiculturalists with his argumentation."

This distinction is particularly relevant when Goodman's other guest, Ai Esbati, stresses that Breivik's acts "need to be understood in a socio-political context" which is "rising Islamophobia" in the western world.  No single group is more dependent on and responsible for rising "Islamophobia" in the Western world than the Zionists in Israel.  Esbati correctly states that Breivik's aggression is towards "[t]hose enabling infiltration by Islamic forces."  Breivik singles out liberal Jews as traitors for this reason and in the same section of his 1500 page manifesto encourages support for Israel and Zionism. 

Democracy Now's thirty-three minute analysis contains no mention whatsoever of Zionism, Israel or Jews.  To Democracy Now, this subject is what ex-White House reporter Helen Thomas described as "the third rail" in journalism and politics.  With the Norway massacre, it is the huge inconvenient elephant in the room.

This did not prevent Democracy Now's scathing critique of mainstream media's initial false reports suggesting a Muslim terrorist bombed Oslo and shot the kids at summer camp.  Again, Zionism is relevant to mainstream's reporting, especially when CNN's Wolf Blitzer (who previously worked for AIPAC) falsely reports about a Muslim Olso shooter.  Does someone need to explain to Amy Goodman that omitting a key, relevant portion of a story is equally deceptive?

If it's no accident that Amy Goodman is avoiding the issue of Zionism in the Norway shooting, why now?  Her past coverage of Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Palestine has consistently offered more balance and information then the other news networks. 

What is it about certain acts of terrorism that leads to Amy Goodman's failure if coverage involves any real connection to Israel and Zionism?

Democracy Now's Norway shooting feature looks like a smoking gun of willful omission. If we find out what’s motivating this biased coverage, we might gain some insight into what’s behind Democracy Now's diminished coverage of the 9/11 Truth movement.

The Norway Shooter's Support for Zionism: In His Own Words

Although mainstream media is comparing the Norway shooter to Nazis, the shooter actually has contempt for Adoph Hitler and subscribes to a form of nationalism that includes Zionism.


The following is an excerpt from a 1500 page document written by Norway shooter Anders Behring Breivik (writing under the pseudonym Andrew Berwick) where he explains his contempt for "liberal Jews" and his support of Zionism and Zionist Jews:

Whenever someone asks if I am a national socialist I am deeply offended. If there is one historical figure and past Germanic leader I hate it is Adolf Hitler. If I could travel in a time-machine to Berlin in 1933, I would be the first person to go – with the purpose of killing him. Why? Because of him, the Germanic tribes are dying and MAY be completely wiped out unless we manage to win within 20-70 years. And it would be a beautiful Europe with beautiful cultural conservative policies – very similar to the ones you now find in Japan and South Korea. Hitler almost destroyed everything with his reckless and unforgivable actions and he will forever be known as a traitor to the Nordic-Germanic tribes.

So, I am really speechless when I see the cult calling themselves national socialists today. If you truly love our tribe, the Nordic tribes or any other European tribe, you must learn and acknowledge that Hitler is a traitor to the Germanic and all European tribes, NOT a hero. Hitler had the military capabilities necessary to liberate Jerusalem and the nearby provinces from Islamic occupation. He could have easily worked out an agreement with the UK and France to liberate the ancient Jewish Christian lands with the purpose of giving the Jews back their ancestral lands. The UK and France would perhaps even contribute to such a campaign in an effort to support European reconciliation. The deportation of the Jews from Germany wouldn‘t be popular but eventually, the Jewish people would regard Hitler as a hero because he returned the Holy land to them.

But what did the great Satan do? He invaded Poland, France Russia and several other countries in his crazed effort for world domination. It was completely reckless and unforgivable as the consequences of such acts aren‘t very hard to predict. And when the tides turned for the Nazis and the Russian campaign failed, they decided to massacre the Jews and thus further condemning the Germanic tribes and the conservative/nationalist ideology to hell... They knew perfectly well what the consequences would be for their tribes if they lost, yet they went ahead and completed the job. After WW2, the greatest anti-nationalist and anti-European propaganda campaign the world has ever seen was launched. And people like myself, and other cultural conservative leaders of today, are still suffering under this propaganda campaign because of that one man.

In any case; educate yourself and learn the difference. Today‘s conservatives and want-to-be Nazis are ignorant when they obsess so much over the Jews. There is no Jewish problem in Western Europe (with the exception of the UK and France) as we only have 1 million in Western Europe, whereas 800 000 out of these 1 million live in France and the UK. The US on the other hand, with more than 6 million Jews (600% more than Europe) actually has a considerable Jewish problem. But please learn the difference between a nation-wrecking multiculturalist Jew and a conservative Jew. Don‘t make the same mistake that NSDAP did. Never target a Jew because he is a Jew, but rather because he is a category A or B traitor. And don‘t forget that the bulk of the category A and B traitors are Christian Europeans. 90% of the category A and B traitors in my own country, Norway, are Nordic, Christian category A and B traitors.

The Euro-US divide

However tempting to discuss US nationalism/conservatism, I‘m not going to. The reason is that the fundamental factors vary too much. The European Americans aren‘t the indigenous peoples of the US, the Native Americans are. In addition; there are more than 60 million Muslims in Western (25-30) + Eastern Europe (35) while only 9 million in the US.

However, our role models MUST be the great nationalist struggles of the past, because politics is nothing at all but the historical process at work in the present. So we need to study the Wind of Change that blew through Africa in the 1950s, now that we too are living under anti-European discrimination in the EU Colonial Empires (EUSSR). Study Mao Tse-Dong (The Great Helmsman), once a role model for the Left, now a possible Rightist role model: leader of China's National Revival. Was he ever a Communist at all?

Study Otto von Bismarck, not Adolf (the former was precursor of the modern Right, the latter precursor of the contemporary left). Study the Italian Risorgimento of the 19th century, which was a vast movement of National Revival (not a conspiracy by small elites, as the textbooks say) and an Alliance between the aristocratic Right (Count Cavour[1] and King Victor Emmanuel[2]) and the Revolutionary Left (Garibaldi[3]). And look at Ataturk's revival of Turkey after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire (led by the military). Ireland and Israel have had Nationalist struggles in the last century we can very usefully learn from. In each case, a handful of visionaries raised whole nations, after centuries (even millennia) of oppression. The CIA falsely claims a Muslim “terrorist” organization has claimed responsibility for the Oslo, Norway bombings and the corporate media is printing their lies.

All major news outlets ran a report from a CIA analyst claiming a Muslim terrorist group took credit for the Oslo Norway bombings, which the corporate media is trying so desperately to blame on Al-Qaeda .

Even though it would make no sense for Muslims to attack Norway, who is their ally.

Regardless of the absurdity of the claim, the CIA has falsely stated that a Muslim Jihad group  has accepted responsibility for the attacks Norway bombings and not the corporate media is running their lies.

The report is making its way around all the corporate news sites.  The New York Times still has their article up which adds:

Norway is a member of the NATO alliance and has a small fighting contingent in Afghanistan. It was one of several countries named by Ayman al-Zawahri, the leader of Al Qaeda, as potential targets for attack. In 2006, Norwegian newspapers reprinted Danish cartoons that angered Muslims by lampooning Muhammad. Norway has also historically been a frequent participant in peacekeeping missions and a host for diplomatic talks, including the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinians. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by a committee of the Norwegian Parliament.

To be clear, here is the true version of what the group actually said as clearly shown in the translation above and as reported on Norway TV and as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Norway TV reported that a group called Helpers of the Global Jihad said “This is just the beginning of what will come,” though the TV station said it’s unclear that the group has taken responsibility.

Update: Abu Sulayman has now issued a retraction, stating clearly that “Helpers” was not involved in the operation and that his statement was not an official statement. He says those who carried out the attacks “must surely be known to all.”

Shortly thereafter, The Telegraph newspaper of London reported the same information, citing Norwegian Justice Minister Knut Storberget.

OSLO, Norway — A home-grown terrorist set of an explosion that ripped open buildings in the heart of Norway's government Friday, then went to a summer camp dressed as a police officer and gunned down youths as they ran and even swam for their lives, police said Friday.

The attacks killed at least 16 people in this peaceful nation's worst violence since World War II.

A police official said the 32-year-old ethnic Norwegian suspect arrested at the camp on Utoya island appears to have acted alone in both attacks, and that "it seems like that this is not linked to any international terrorist organizations at all."

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because that information had not been officially released by Norway's police.

"It seems it's not Islamic-terror related," the official said. "This seems like a madman's work."

The official said the attack "is probably more Norway's Oklahoma City than it is Norway's World Trade Center."

Domestic terrorists carried out the 1995 attack on a federal building in Oklahoma City, while foreign terrorists were responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

The official added, however, "it's still just hours since the incident happened. And the investigation is going on with all available resources."

At the youth camp, where the prime minister had been scheduled to speak Saturday, a 15-year-old camper named Elise said she heard gunshots, but then saw a police officer and thought she was safe. Then he started shooting people right before her eyes.

Elise said she hid behind the same rock that the killer was standing on. "I could hear his breathing from the top of the rock," she said.

The police official who spoke on condition of anonymity said there was at least one unexploded device at the youth camp, and that a police bomb disposal team was working on disarming it with support from military experts.

The Oslo blast left a square covered in twisted metal, shattered glass and documents expelled from surrounding buildings in a dust-fogged scene that reminded one visitor from New York of Sept. 11.

Ian Dutton, who was in a nearby hotel, said people "just covered in rubble" were walking through "a fog of debris."

"It wasn't any sort of a panic," he said, "It was really just people in disbelief and shock, especially in a such as safe and open country as Norway. You don't even think something like that is possible."
Police said seven people died in the Oslo blast, and another 9 or 10 people were killed at the camp, which was organized by the youth wing of the ruling Labor Party. Rescuers were to search to blast wreckage through the night for more victims, and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said police fear there could be more victims at the camp as well.

Elise, the young camper, said she believes she saw more than 10 people killed.

Norway to quit Libya operation by August

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Norway will scale down its fighter jet contribution in Libya from six to four planes and withdraw completely from the NATO-led operation by Aug. 1, the government said Friday.

Defense Minister Grete Faremo said she expects understanding from NATO allies because Norway has a small air force and cannot "maintain a large fighter jet contribution during a long time."

The announcement comes as the Obama administration puts pressure on Germany, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands to shoulder a greater share of the alliance campaign, which has heated up with intensified airstrikes on Libya's capital.

The Scandinavian country's air force says Norwegian F-16 jets have carried out about 10 percent of the NATO airstrikes in Libya since March 31.

A NATO spokeswoman said the bloc appreciates Norway's contribution to the operation.
 
"We also note the fact that there are still several weeks to go, that they will continue contributing for quite some time yet, which we also appreciate," Oana Lungescu told The Associated Press.

The alliance decided last weekend to extend the Libyan mission for 90 days, into late September. But it's unclear how fast the intervention will be able to end. The Libyan opposition holds about one-third of the inhabitable area of the country, but has struggled to make advances against Moammar Gadhafi's forces.

The parties in Norway's center-left coalition government had been at odds over whether to extend the country's participation, which was scheduled to expire June 24. The most leftist faction in the government, the Socialist Left Party, opposed an extension but a compromise was reached to stay in the operation until Aug. 1 with fewer planes.

"It is wise to end the Norwegian fighter jet contribution. Now Norway should apply its efforts to find a peaceful solution in Libya," Socialist Left Party lawmaker Baard Vegar Solhjell said.

Norway backs Palestinian bid for UN recognition in September

Norway, host of the 1993 Palestinian-Israeli peace accords, said on Monday it was “perfectly legitimate” for Palestinians to take their case for statehood to the United Nations for voting in September.

“We will consider very carefully the proposed text that’s to be put forward by the Palestinians in the coming weeks,” said Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere, with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas beside him at a press conference.

“Norway believes it is perfectly legitimate for the Palestinian president to turn to the United Nations with such proposals,” Stoere said, adding that continued negotiations with Israel will be required in any case.

The United States and Israel have opposed Abbas’ plan, backed by the Arab League, to bring the Palestinians’ long quest for statehood to a vote in New York.

Abbas said on Monday the plan was still on.

“We will seek to go to the UN next September in order to obtain membership for the state of Palestine,” he said.

He added: “Our way is to go to the Security Council. If we fail we will go to the General Assembly.”
Norwegian diplomats said UN membership would require approval by the Security Council, where the United States holds veto power, but that a resolution on statehood could go straight to the UN General Assembly.
