D.O.A. Supports Occupy Movement, Enlists Jello Biafra for New 7-inch

Prolific Vancouver punkers D.O.A. have steadily been dishing out anti-authoritarian tunes since the '70s, so it's no surprise to learn the act has a new seven-inch with an Occupy-themed anthem just around the corner.

Leader Joe "Shithead" Keithley's Sudden Death Records will deliver the "We Occupy" / "Who the Hell Do You Think You Are?" single digitally on April 1, and it will appear on wax April 25 in a limited pressing of 1,000.

According to a press release, the A-side's upbeat ska arrangement may come as a surprise to some fans, but Keithley keeps things sneery on the pro-Occupy anthem, which finds him singing about how "we are getting ripped off by the greedy and the powerful." Also along for the ride is former Dead Kennedy's frontman and longtime friend Jello Biafra, who pitches in on vocals. The B-side, "Who The Hell Do You Think You Are," was one of the ten songs that Keithley recently wrote for the theatrical adaptation of Hardcore Logo.

Both tracks are set to appear in the act's next full-length, which, while previously going by the working title Farewell to Arms, is now titled We Come in Peace. The band tracked the album this December, but the set is reportedly entering the mixing stage this week.

The album will apparently feature a mix of crushing punk tunes ("Boneyard," "Bring Out Your Dead"), an acoustic take of older number "General Strike" and covers of the Beatles' "Revolution" and Toxic Reason's "War Hero." A release date has yet been set, but it should arrive on Sudden Death in June.

Up next for the band, however, is a string of shows across Alberta and British Columbia, which precede a hefty European tour schedule. You can see the Canadian dates down below and check out D.O.A.'s overseas schedule here.

Tour dates:

4/18 Calgary, AB - Dickens Pub
4/19 Edmonton, AB - The Pawn Shop

4/21 Nelson, BC - The Royal
4/22 Banff, AB - Wild Bill's
4/23 Jasper, AB - TBA
